VCA Digital Platform

The Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment (VCA) is a process designed to accompany communities to be more resilient through the identification and assessment of their priority needs. The VCA provides a toolkit for community-led assessments and solution finding processes that integrate information on existing risks, vulnerabilities and capacities and form the basis for successful community-based programming.

The web based VCA tool developed under this project is a digital tool that allows organizations doing VCA to carry out VCA projects in a digital manner. The site servers as a repository to collect and consolidate the VCA reports, VCA maps , plans of action and other necessary files and documents by different organizations. The organizations can upload their VCA project outputs from any time and can hence have a historic record of their work. For organizations who want to use this tool to conduct VCA in their project locations, they can automatically load the project location boundary maps from the platform itself, collect geo tagged point, lines and polygon datasets for local resources, risk and hazard datasets and baseline datasets. The other existing VCA toolkits as mentioned in the LDCRP guidelines are developed as digital forms toolkit in the application so that VCA practitioners can digitally collect tabular details during the field process.

The main goal of this platform is to develop a single tool that servers as the VCA repository by allowing any organizations to share their VCA projects and also a digital tool that can be used by any organizations to conduct field based VCA.
